Exercising Your Gratitude Muscles

For many months leading up to my hitting "rock bottom", I can honestly say that I demonstrated very little real gratitude for anything. I had my wife. I actually had more than enough material things and money. However I showed little appreciation for these things. Much less take a moment from my busy schedule of me, to simply acknowledge and be thankful in the present moment.
I took things, money and my relationships for granted.
I am happy to say that within the last 14 months I have developed a daily practice of exercising my gratitude muscles.
It is very easy to focus on what I don't have or what I hope I will have in the future. But what about right now? What is absolutely precious and important to me now? Especially those things (people, relationships) that are priceless.
Right now, where I am. I am warm, under a solid roof, have food and clothing.
Our family is happy and healthy and we are truly blessed. I do my best to practice gratitude daily, so that I will never miss out on what is important to me right now. I also believe that practicing gratitude opens up opportunities for more blessings. Exercising my gratitude muscles makes me stronger and helps me to always focus on embracing life. During the good times and the difficult times.
What are you grateful/thankful for today????
Have a great day!
