How to Maintain A Positive Outlook on Life

Times are tough. The economy is going through a major adjustment. People are loosing their jobs. Everywhere you look in the news. It's what else? More bad news.

How in the world is anyone supposed to keep an upbeat outlook on life considering all the negative information that floods our media waves?

My solution; limit the amount of negativity I expose myself to and focus on the positive. It may sound simplistic or be easier said than done. Turn off the TV? Don't watch CNN? You may say, but I have to stay in tune with what is happening in our world. My suggestion is to read articles on the internet or just read the newspaper. Find ways that you can eliminate the hype, negative energy and drama in news stories. I found this reduces my anxiety about life significantly.

Of course you have to make the choice for yourself. I just know I have found a great increase in peace in my life, by screening out the drama driven media reports and simply getting the information without all the emotional hype.

Suggested exercise for a positive outlook; Turn off the TV or radio. Focus on the present. Take a moment right now to acknowledge one positive thing in your life. A family member. The fact that you still have a job or a place to live. I know it may seem hard to do, but find something that you can be truly grateful for. Dwell in your feelings of gratitude for as long as you can. You might be surprised how it can change your outlook on things.

Have a great day!
